Object and Image Intertwined

A mediation of materiality and graphic landscapes; my work is a mood board of rotating interests and memories. I have always had a relationship with objects and the built environment. I am always dwelling on and reevaluating how something works, looks and feels.

I collage imagery that creates new memories and visual outcomes. Even my framing elements are a decorative device that takes the “flat” painting and reveals it as more object-like.

MEMORIES:

The collage format allows multiple themes to emerge in my work.  This is perhaps a more honest intersection between our moments and its adjacent objects. Although so many of the smaller graphics that make up the larger whole are familiar, I combine imagery and graphics from different times and places. I want everyone to see these compositions differently because of their interactions with those things throughout their lives, past and future.

Who am I?

I found my way to making art rather organically. Formative career stints include commercial interior design, cabinet design, architectural and landscape illustration. Teaching illustration and drafting for a decade helped to hone my skills. I have had an interest in graphic design for a long time, which comes through in many of my pieces. I try to imbue my work with some irony and humor… it’s a lot of fun.

I adore my daughter and wife. Their support for my time at the studio is peerless. My wife and I love to travel, cook and entertain.
